Delicious Vanilla Birthday Cake

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup buttercream icing
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Divide the batter between the two prepared pans.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
- Once cool, spread the buttercream icing on top of the cake. Decorate with sprinkles, if desired.
